Valier eighth grader Amari Calf Robe gets ready to play defense for the Lady Panthers.

The Valier Lady Panthers picked up a victory in their lone game of the week, dropping conference rival Sunburst. The Lady Panthers were also slated to take on CJI in a non-conference battle on Saturday but the game was cancelled. The Lady Panthers host a pair of conference rivals this weekend as they enter the home stretch of the regular season. 

The Lady Panthers jumped out to a 19-8 lead after the first quarter. The local cagers put up 20 points in the second quarter and extended their lead to 39-23. Valier outscored the Refiners 15-11 in the third quarter and pushed their lead to 54-34 going into the fourth. Sunburst outscored Valier 13-10 but it wasn’t nearly enough as the Lady Panthers took the 64-47 victory. 

Hannah Monroe led the way with 18 points followed by Erica Ramsey with 12. Loni Orcutt tallied nine points in the win, Hannah St. Goddard scored eight, Kylie Christiaens chipped in seven, Kinley Kovatch and Amari CalfRobe scored four each and Hylee Layne rounded out the scoring with two. 

Augusta and Simms come to town this weekend with the Lady Panthers taking on Augusta at 6 p.m. on Friday and Simms at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
