Pondera Arts Council, with support from the National Endowment for the Arts and IMTour will host the “Art of Rodeo” on Saturday, June 2 at 7 p.m. at the Orpheum Theatre in Conrad.
Western singer/ songwriter Jared Rogerson and local authors Lisa Schmidt and Kari Lynn Dell will showcase “The Art of Rodeo” through song and story.
Rogerson is a Pinedale, Wyo. artist who draws inspiration from the many years he devoted to riding wild bareback broncs at rodeos and tamed saddle horses through rugged mountains.
Schmidt will share stories written from her cattle and sheep ranch near Conrad. She has written magazine and newspaper articles for over 20 years and published a book of short stories called “Prairie Ponderings: Adventures in Raising Your Food.”
Dell is a third generation rancher and rodeo competitor who lives on the Blackfeet Nation. She is a 2018 RITA award finalist of the Romance Writers of America.
Everyone is also invited to “Cowboy Songwriting 101” at the Orpheum from 4:30-5:30 p.m. on June 2 hosted by Rogerson. Attendance is free and everyone attending will receive a free ticket for his concert later that evening – a $15 value. This informative hour will cover the history of cowboy songs, how they evolved and how they compare to pop country music. This is an interesting and informative opportunity for guests of all ages.
Tickets for the concert can be purchased at Olson’s Drug in Conrad or at the Orpheum for $15. Children 18 and under are free.
