Twenty four runners lined up at Valier’s Fireman’s Pavilion Saturday morning for the 2nd Annual Homesteader Hustle.

The 2nd annual Homesteader Hustle Fun Run was held Saturday, June 27. Twenty-four runners and walkers joined in to celebrate fitness and donate to the Valier Food Pantry. The race began and finished at the Fireman’s Pavilion at Lake Frances.

“It’s a free event to get people moving and collect some resources for the food pantry,” reported Carol Green. “People always ask if it’s okay to walk. Of course! That’s why we call it a fun run. Not everyone thinks running is fun.”

Pony Expressions sponsored commemorative shirts at a reduced price. The crowd was small, and contact was kept to a minimum at registration and the finish line. “There is safe and there is healthy. We just need to find safe ways to be healthy during this pandemic,” said Green.

Top finishers in each division were:

Youth–Dally Michael, Cut Bank 39:09.00.

Female–Meagan Breding, Valier 24:04:00; Mary Jane Narne, Hawaii 26:12.00; Kellyn Dunaway, Cut Bank 29:42.00.

Male – Brian Suttle, Cut Bank 18:26.00; Rhett Michael, Cut Bank 22:58.00; Levi Stanley, Cut Bank 23:40.00.

Congratulations to all the participants. Only one person can come in first in their category, but everyone can have fun and strive to do better than last time. Celebrate the winners and cheer on everyone else out there doing their best!
