The Valier Area Development Corporation has announced this year’s Homesteader Days celebration is “Big Time in a Small Town.” This year’s event is scheduled for June 21-23. In honor of Pondera County’s Centennial, the VADC has invited the Pondera County Commissioners to serve as the Grand Marshals of Saturday’s parade.
There is still time to get involved or sign up to participate or help with any of the following activities:
•Co-Ed Softball Tournament–Nicole Widhalm, 788-0800.
•Parade–Cheryl Curry, 279-3561.
•WHOA Poker Ride and Kids Events–Janelle Nelson, 788-8841.
•Vendors–Linda Kuka, 279-3347.
•Tractor Pull–Carl and Megan Werner, 289-0962 or 289-0963.
•Homesteader Hustle 5K Fun Walk-Run–Carol Green, (208) 880-4584.
In addition to the many crowd favorites, such as the Saturday parade, co-ed softball tournament and annual poker ride, this year’s festivities will also include Saturday morning’s Homesteader Hustle 5K Walk-Run to benefit the new Valier Food Pantry and Celtic Guitarist Jerry Barlow performing at the Valier Public Library. (See related story.)
As in years past, organizers are lining up a variety of vendors and food booths in the park on Saturday as well as music and games. The tractor pull will be held at 3 p.m. at the west end of Town. The “test and tune” will be on Friday at 3 p.m.
Froggie’s will also be hosting several special events throughout the weekend. See the ad in this week’s issue for more details.
