The second annual Valier Winter Light Festival Kickoff was held Dec. 3. Hosted by the Valier Area Development Corporation VADC, the event was based out of Folklore Coffee and included Christmas tree sales by the Pondera County Search and Rescue, wreath sales by the Valier High School Freshmen Class, hayrides courtesy of the Valier FFA, and a bonfire provided by Mr. Sheble’s shop class. All of these outdoor activities allowed for the community to come together in a safe environment. The VADC also provided complimentary donuts and discounts on beverages.
The kick-off included a light display competition open to businesses and residents. The winner of the 2020 Winter Light Display Contest was Tom and Linda Kuka’s entry, Gingerbread Fantasy. The Kukas will receive a traveling trophy and $50 in VADC Bucks to be spent at a local business.
The Kukas display included grazing deer, Santa with his reindeer and sleigh, and colorful lights on windows, eaves, and trees.
The VADC would like to congratulate the Kukas and thank the businesses and community members who participated in the event. Further thanks go to all who decorated for the holidays. The lights and decorations help to add a warm welcome to visitors to Valier.
