The Pondera County Commissioners held a public hearing on Wednesday, Oct. 23, on the closing of County offices on Friday, Nov. 29 and early on Tuesday, Dec. 24.

One written comment in favor of the closure was received. During the hearing, the Commissioners discussed prior history of closure and that it was not an additional holiday for employees, explaining employees would have to use vacation time or compensatory time to have the day off.

Following the hearing, the Commissioners convened into their regular session and approved Resolution #9-2019/20, designating county office hours and holiday closings. Under the resolution, the Pondera County offices will be closed all day, Friday, Nov. 29, 2019 (day after Thanksgiving Day);  and 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm, on Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2019 (Christmas Eve Day).

Employees will need to use compensatory time accrued and/or vacation hours to receive pay for the hours normally worked.  Employees wishing to work during the affected hours and/or employees who do not have vacation and/or compensatory hours to apply to the benefit hours may work.
