The Valier School District will be utilizing its web page to keep parents and community members updated on information related to school events and activities during the Governor’s mandated closure on March 16-27. Updates to when school will resume will be posted on the website at:

As of press time, the following information was posted:

•Prom, which was scheduled for March 21 with Cut Bank High School students, has been postponed.

•Students were given the option to clean their school lockers of all items by March 17 to allow custodians to sanitize the school. Items still in lockers on March 18 will be bagged, sealed, and labeled and can be picked up by making arrangements with the high school office 279-3613.

The reason the lockers need cleared out is so that the custodial staff can do a thorough job of sanitizing the building without causing harm to students’ belongings. Lockers are the most frequently touched surfaces in the school besides desks.

Supt. Gaffney will post on the website when the building is closed for no entry.

•A letter will be sent out later via email to all parents with the latest update for Valier Schools. Teachers have been asked to email students and/or parents in grades 7-12, and parents for students in grades 3-6, to verify email correspondence capability.

•All activities, practices, field trips, contests, meetings, and school events are cancelled. See related article on spring sports and activities from the Montana High School Association.

•Valier Schools will not be providing meals during the initial two-week closure. The decision will be changed if necessary. Please contact Mrs. Gaffney at 279-3613 and leave a message if this creates a hardship for you, your children or family.

•The school will also plan short and long-term learning goals and activities  as we receive more information from the state and county leaders. Those plans will be communicated to parents as soon as possible.

•The school buildings will be closed to the public including Open Gym and

•Open Weight room until further notice. Anyone visiting the high school or  elementary building need to call first for permission.

•Pre-School Screening scheduled for March 31 is pending.

•Spring break is still scheduled April 3-10, 2020.

Please check this website regularly for other cancellations or changes.
