Pondera Medical Center’s (PMC) Annual Health Fair and Flu Shot Clinic will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 9, from 7 a.m. to 12 noon at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 416 S. Kansas in Conrad. The Health Fair is hosted by PMC and admission is free.

Door prizes will be available throughout the Health Fair as well as complimentary beverages and healthy snacks provided by the PMC Dietary Department.

Vendors from around the area, along with PMC Departments, will have informational displays and educational presentations. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Lab and PSA screens are available during the health fair between 7 a.m. and noon and on site at Pondera Medical Center from 1-4 p.m.  Costs for the lab and PSA screens are $50 each. Flu shots are available from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. and cost $40 each.  PMC cannot bill for these services during the health fair, so payment for lab draws and/or vaccinations must be made at the time of registration.  If requested, and for your convenience, PMC will provide you with the necessary information to send to your insurance company. PMC may bill Medicare for your flu shot upon request only, however, you must bring your Medicare Standard card and you must have Part B in order for PMC to bill Medicare on your behalf.

To better serve your needs, PMC is offering additional days for the Health Fair Lab health and PSA screens at Pondera Medical Center from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 7 and Tuesday, Oct. 8.  If you plan on having your labs drawn, please come to the health fair early and drink plenty of water.  Fasting from midnight until after lab drawing is recommended, but not required.

What are lab draws? Also referred to as health screenings and “birthday labs,” these are blood samples taken from your arm. The cost of the lab draws is reduced to $50 for your birthday month and at the Pondera Medical Center Health Fair.  This lab draw does not require a provider’s lab order.  This is a cost effective way to gather information about your body’s health, however, it does not substitute a full medical evaluation. The professionals at Pondera Medical Center recommend that you share your lab results with your provider.

 The Lab draws test many areas, including:

•Complete Blood Count;

•Complete Metabolic Panel, including Triglycerides ;

•Total Cholesterol: (Lipid Profile with Cardiac Risk Ratio), Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL), High Density Lipoprotein (HDL); and

•Thyroid Screen (TSH).

Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) test is a blood sample from your arm.  It is analyzed for Prostate-Specific Antigen and if there is an abnormally higher level you will be further checked for prostate infection, inflammation, enlargement, or cancer.

The friendly and professional PMC staff is looking forward to seeing our community and the opportunity to serve your health and wellness needs.  See you at the Health Fair, Oct. 9.
