The June 17 deadline to file for Mayor and the open seats on the Valier Town Council has come and gone and there are still two Council positions without candidates. Mayor Glenn Wunderlich and Councilman David Widhalm have filed for re-election.
Wunderlich is seeking to finish out the remaining two years of the unexpired Mayor’s term he was appointed to fill. Widhalm filed for another four-year term on the Council.
Norma and Raymon Bukoveckas announced at the last meeting they will not be seeking re-election. Raymon was appointed in 2017 when no candidates surfaced for the Council seat. There is still two years remaining in that unexpired term.
Norma served out her term on the council and that four-year position is now up for grabs.
The deadline to file as a declared write-in candidate for the Municipal Primary Election is Aug. 1.
At this time, it does not appear there will be a need for a primary election on Sept. 10. The Municipal General Election is set for Tuesday, Nov. 5.
