The Lake Frances Triple P Triathlon made its debut in Valier during the COVID-19 pandemic six months ago. Who would have thought we would still be masking up and looking for creative ways to be together – apart?
With the new year swiftly approaching, organizers are moving forward in hopes that the pandemic has subsided so they can welcome even more participants in 2021. Registration is open and over a dozen participants have signed up and committed to compete at the June 12, 2021 event. Eighty percent of current registrants are returning athletes from 2020.
Organizers realize there may be some challenges if the current pandemic numbers continue to rise. They are planning accordingly.
“The last thing we want to do is cancel the event. We were able to host a safe and successful race in June by taking some added precautions to prevent exposure. We are looking at ways we can accommodate everyone that wants to compete next year,” said Race Director Carol Green.
If the numbers rise above the “social gathering” limits in place at race time, there are a couple of options. One would be to cap the participant numbers giving priority to those individuals who registered first and issuing a refund to others. Another option would be to hold two separate events with half of the participants competing on Friday evening and the rest on Saturday morning.
“It’s all doable,” reported Green, “We will do our best to work around whatever challenges arise.”
Registration rates increase on Jan. 1, 2021. Sign up now to ensure your spot in the 2nd Annual Lake Frances Triple P Triathlon. Questions? Email firstname.lastname@example.org.
