Valier Area Development Corporation strives to beautify and promote life and healthy activities in and around Valier. They met Tuesday to firm up some plans for early summer including a Community Cleanup night, a scaled back Homesteader Days celebration, and the Lake Frances Triple P Triathlon.

The Community Cleanup night is scheduled for Thursday, May 28 from 5 p.m. until dark, or until projects are completed. Recognizing that there may be individuals who want to help but may not be able to participate at that time and to further comply with social distancing, the VADC will post a list of projects on their Facebook page and in businesses around town. These tasks can be completed at your convenience. Contact Cheryl Curry at (406) 279-3561 for more information.

The scaling back of Homesteader Days to just one day, June 27, currently includes the Homesteader Hustle Fun Run at 8 a.m. and a “Cruise the Drag” rally also planned for 11 a.m. to 12 noon. Participants are encouraged to drive their classic cars, 4x4 ATV’s, small tractors, bicycles, etc. along the route that will be determined.

Wave, holler, and honk at the other drivers in a distanced, yet friendly fashion. This is a participant event in place of a parade which lends itself to congregating spectators.

“Been to Valier Lately” stickers have been printed and will be available to participants.

Vendors and food events have been cancelled for this year. If the COVID-19 restrictions continue to lift, there may be additional activities added. Again, watch our Facebook page and website for updates.

The Triple P Triathlon on June 13 is moving forward as planned. Participants will be given specific start times, registration times, and instructions for maintaining distance and safety prior to the event.

Any supporters and spectators will be asked to honor the current (time of event) state and local guidelines to keep themselves, volunteers, and participants safe. Volunteer opportunities will be available with minimum contact, such as directing bikers and runners along the course. Follow Lake Frances Triple P Triathlon on Facebook for current updates.

Valier Area Development Corporation recognizes the need for activity and interaction in our community. The COVID-19 pandemic has taken its toll in many ways. VADC intends to move forward with caution and optimism while conscientiously observing safety precautions.

Individuals are asked to refrain from participating in any activity that they feel might put them at risk. If COVID-19 restrictions are once again tightened down by the governor, these events are subject to cancellation.

Ongoing improvement projects by the VADC include landscaping around the Welcome signs on the East and West ends of town, Lake Frances Campground bathroom repairs, City Park cleanup and Gazebo refresh, Community BBQ in late summer.

Also on tap is the Triple launching of a new website to showcase the area and keep current of announcements and events. It can be found at www.valier.org.
