Valier churches will be offering in-person Easter services in 2021. Easter Sunday services will begin at the Valier Methodist Church with a sunrise service near the Lake Frances Pavilion starting at 6:45 a.m. See story for times of other community Easter services.

Valier churches are preparing for a much more traditional Easter celebration than they were allowed in 2020. As the state was under a shelter in place order last year, congregations did their best to worship through virtual services. Easter 2021 offers a renewal of hope as local Christians are looking forward to meeting and worshiping in person. The Valier Easter Egg Hunt will also be possible this year!

The Annual Valier Women’s Community Club Easter Egg Hunt will be held for children ages 10 and under at H.S. Miller Park on Saturday, April 3 at 2 p.m. sharp. Arrive early. The eggs get gathered up quickly!

Various church services will begin on Thursday, April 1 commemorating the Last Supper and carry through Easter weekend. Few congregations will be offering virtual services as the pandemic restrictions have eased allowing for gatherings.

The First Baptist Church of Valier will meet for Easter Sunday service at 11 a.m. with no virtual services offered.

St. Francis Catholic Church will hold several Holy Week observances as follows: Holy Thursday, April 1, at 5:30 p.m.; Good Friday, April 2, at 1 p.m. with Liturgical Service at 5:30 p.m.; Holy Saturday, Easter Vigil, April 3, at 8 p.m. (No other services on Saturday.); Easter Sunday, April 4, 8:30 a.m. No virtual services will be offered.

Valier Lutheran Church will observe Maundy Thursday on April 2 at 7 p.m. There will be no Easter service as they are without a pastor until September. In the meantime, they are hoping to bring in a visiting pastor on Saturday evenings a couple times each month. No virtual services will be offered.

The Valier United Methodist Church will be holding its Easter Sunrise Service at 6:45 a.m. near the Lake Frances Pavilion. Fellowship will follow. No virtual services will be offered.

Opportunities for virtual participation still exist for those individuals who cannot get out or who are still concerned about contracting the COVID-19 virus.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be holding its Semi-Annual Worldwide Conference on Easter weekend with Sunday morning services beginning at 10 a.m. Live broadcasts can be viewed on BYUtv or at churchofjesuschrist.org.

In-person or virtual, Easter 2021 is sure to offer messages of hope and renewal to believers in Valier and around the world.

Happy Easter!
