Halloween décor is popping up all over town with those decorating outside making sure everything is well anchored to withstand the gusts of wind that come along with the season. Trick or treaters can get a head start on their candy gathering by attending the Main Street Parade of Costumes, starting at 5 p.m. on Oct. 31 at City Park, and Trunk or Treat hosted by the First Baptist Church, starting at 6 p.m. at the church activity center.

Calling all spooks, super heroes, princesses and fantasy creatures of all kinds! Halloween is just around the corner and there are a couple of spooktacular events just for you! The time honored tradition of trick-or-treating has been bumped up a notch with the Shelby Area Chamber of Commerce hosting a Halloween Parade on Thursday, Oct. 31, starting at 5 p.m. on Main Street.

“Line-up will be at City Park at 5,” said Chamber Executive Director Doreen Mckelvey. “The parade will go down Main Street to participating businesses handing out treats to all participating. All children must be accompanied by an adult or guardian.”

Businesses participating in this year’s parade include Core Civic, Coyote Club, CHS, Julie Wray, LMT, Larson Clothing, Leavitt Group Insurance, Northtown Drug, Pizza Hut, Shelby TBID and T&T Creations.

Albertsons will once again be offering hot dog dinners for the low price of just $3 to help curb some of the sugar rush, so stop by and treat yourself to some dinner.

The fun doesn’t have to end there. Just head on over to the First Baptist Church Activity Center for its annual Trunk or Treat event, starting at 6 p.m. and continuing until 8 p.m. Car trunks loaded full of candy, bounce houses, games and more can be found at Trunk or Treat. Everyone is welcome so come as you are, or as who, or what, you want to be and enjoy the evening. Happy Halloween!
