North Toole County trackster Jaden Koon, finished on top in both the 1600 and 3200 meter runs at the District 10-C Track Meet in Great Falls on Friday, May 10. 

The Sunburst Refiners qualified six athletes for this week’s Northern C Divisional Track Meet. Cody Smith led the boys’ team to a fourth place team finish at the District 10-C Meet last weekend with a pair of first place finishes and Brooke Holland had a pair of second place finishes to lead the girls’ team. 

Smith won the 3200 (11:23.99) and 1600 (5:17.03) and also placed third in the 800 (2:18.9) to lead the boys while Jaden Koon placed second behind Smith in the 3200 and 1600. Koon ran a personal record 11:47.92 in the 3200 and a 5:21.14 in the 1600 while also finishing second in the discus with a PR of 113-09. Koon also finished sixth in the 800 with a time of 2:27.66 to qualify for Divisionals.

Renny Turner placed fifth in the discus with a personal best toss of 104-02 and Zak Jarvis set a personal record in the triple jump with a leap of 34-09 to place fifth. 

Holland set personal records in both the 1600 (6:00.51) and 3200 (12:53.3) as the sophomore placed second in both races. Holland also finished the 800 with a personal record of 2:44.94 to finish fourth. Maria Becker was the sixth member of the Refiners to qualify for Divisionals with a 23-06.25 in the triple jump to place fifth.

Qualifying athletes will compete at Memorial Stadium in Great Falls this Thursday in hopes of advancing to the State Championship Meet next week.
