Shelby’s Rhett Reynolds throws one down over Choteau’s Kyler Crabtree Friday night in Choteau.

The Shelby Coyotes boys basketball team swept a pair of conference games last weekend, defeating Choteau 79-60 and Great Falls Central 58-48.

Friday the Coyotes traveled to Choteau and battled in the first quarter to come away with a one-point lead, 12-11. Shelby picked up their offense in the second and jumped out to an 11-point lead at the half, 37-26. The Coyotes extended their lead in the third and then went on to claim the conference victory, 79-60.

Rhett Reynolds had a great shooting night, going 10-of-11 from the field including 2-for-2 from behind the arc. Reynolds also converted eight of his 10 free throws for 30 points to lead the Coyotes. Reynolds also pulled down 20 rebounds and had three blocks to round out his game.

Also scoring for the Coyotes were Logan Leck and Tanner Parsons both with 17, Taylor Parsons six, Trenton Emerson five, Aiden Torgerson and Tanner Tustian two each.

Saturday the Coyotes were in Great Falls and had a little tougher battle. They led 14-12 at the end of the first quarter and 26-21 at the half. Shelby outscored the Mustangs by five in the second half and went on to claim the win, 58-48.

Reynolds led the scoring with 23, continuing with a high percentage, shooting 11-of-14 from the field. Leck and Tanner Parsons each had 12, Emerson had four, Tylor Parsons added three, and Tustian and Tanner Watson each had two. Reynolds had 12 rebounds, and Leck had three assists and zero turnovers from the point guard position.

“The big thing on the weekend was getting healthy. We had the flu bug hit us this week and we were able to piece things together to get two conference wins on the road,” said head coach Tom Reynolds. “Saturday night we closed out the win, hitting 9-of-11 free throws in the fourth quarter when they were fouling at the end of the game.”

Shelby will conclude the regular season this weekend. They are currently second place in the conference. They will host Cut Bank at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Malta on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
