Shelby's Kolby Lohr and Sunburst's Tobias Alvarez race to the finish line at a meet in Cut Bank earlier this season. Coyote tricksters will close out this week in Kalispell at the Archie Roe Meet.

The Shelby Coyotes competed at the Whitefish ARM track meet last weekend with several local athletes competing in both JV and varsity events. The Coyotes have a busy week ahead of them in their last preparations for the District 1B Meet held May 11 in Great Falls. 

In varsity events last weekend Wyatt Brusven and Rhett Reynolds were the top placers for the Coyotes with a pair of second place finishes. Brusven set a personal record in the triple jump with a leap of 42-09 for his runner up finish while Reynolds placed second in the high jump, clearing 5-08. Shaun Salveson placed fourth in the 400 with a time of 55.34. 

Brielle Aklestad placed third in the varsity javelin with a personal best toss of 105-03. Brook Luly rounded out the varsity placements with a sixth place finish in the long jump with a distance of 14-06.5. 

Tanner Tustian led the JV placements with a first place finish, and personal record, in the 1600 with a time of 5:14.74. Cameron Brusven placed third in the discus with a distance of 93-06 and earned sixth place finishes in the shot put with a personal record of 34-11 and 100 with a time of 12.61, also a personal best. Tanner Watson placed third in the triple jump with a leap of 34-11, Brock Stores placed fifth in the 100 with a time of 12.53 and Reynolds earned sixth place in the 400 with a time of 59.52 and Taylor Parsons rounded out the boys placements with a sixth place finish in the long jump with a leap of 16-04. 

Makayla Haight placed fourth in the JV girls 400 with a season record of 1:20.52.

The Coyotes have three meets this week beginning with the Cascade Top 8 Meet that was held yesterday (Tuesday). Thursday is the Great Falls High Freshman Invite and the local tracksters will close out the week in Kalispell at the Archie Roe Meet.
