Shelby junior Reese Whitted fired an 89 in Cut Bank Saturday to tie for second place behind teammate Skyler Martin, who shot an 82 to take medalist honors.

The Shelby Coyotes were in Cut Bank for their final tune-ups before the Divisional Golf Meet last weekend. During Friday’s JV meet both the boys and the girls teams took three of the top four individual spots led by Bailey Johnson’s first place finish. On Saturday four Lady Coyotes finished in the top 10 including Skyler Martin finishing atop the leader board. 

Friday Johnson shot a 107 to lead the field followed by Avery Hoover who finished second with a 109. Kelsyn Lohr shot a 115 to finish fourth and Alexis McCracken rounded out the Coyote scores with a 130. 

Kyler Cassel finished second in the boys’ field, firing an 89 followed by Lucas Fretheim and Teagan Tustian who each shot a 90 to tie for third.

Saturday Martin shot an 82 to win the meet followed by Reese Whitted who tied for second with an 89. Kendall Anderson and Maddison Underdal finished seventh and eighth with a 99 and 101, respectively. 

The Lady Coyotes shot a 371 as a team, 59 strokes ahead of Choteau’s 430. Fairfield finished third with a 439. 

Sean Rogers was the top finisher for the boys with an 85, finishing sixth. Tustian and Cassel also finished in the top 10 with an 88 and 89.

On Monday and Tuesday this week the Coyotes were in Wolf Point for the Divisional golf meet and qualifying golfers will be at State next Monday-Wednesday in Missoula
