The Coyote track and field teams competed in Havre last weekend at the Lions Invitational and the boys JV team scored 72 points on their way to a second place finish, the varsity team placed 12th. The Coyote girls’ JV team finished in seventh place while the varsity team placed 10th.
Cameron Brusven led the JV boys with a win in the javelin with a toss of 115-02. He also placed second in the discus with a distance of 89-09 and fourth in the shot put at 31-08.5. Brusven rounded out his day with a sixth place varsity finish in the triple jump with a leap of 35-04 and ran a leg on the sixth place 4x100 varsity relay team along with Brock Stores, Shaun Salveson and Taylor Parsons.
Tanner Watson placed second in the 1600 JV race with a personal best of 5:32.93 and also placed third in the triple jump with a leap of 34-11.25 and ran a leg on the JV 4x400 relay along with Kolby Lohr, Kolten Henke and Slade Chippewa with a time of 4:19.88.
Rhett Reynolds placed second in the JV 400 with a time of 1:01.24 and fourth in the varsity high jump with a height of 5-08. Lohr finished with a personal record of 54.5 in the JV 300 hurdles to place third while Henke picked up fourth place finishes in the JV 400 (1:03.11) and triple jump (33-06). Tanner Tustian placed third in the JV javelin with a toss of 99-08 while Harold Miller placed fifth with a personal record of 97-04.5. Tustian also placed sixth in the JV triple jump with a leap of 33-0.75. Garett Hansen rounded out the JV placements with a sixth place finish in the discus with a toss of 75-06.
Salveson and Logan Leck placed fifth and sixth respectively in the varsity 800 with times of 2:16.16 and 2:16.22. Salveson also placed sixth in the 1600 with a time of 5:17.17, a personal record.
Makayla Haight and Vivi McDermott led the JV girls with a pair of second place finishes. Haight placed second in the 3200 with a time of 16:20.21 while also earning sixth place in the discus with a toss of 45-07. Haight also ran a leg on the varsity 4x400 relay that placed third along with Allyson Bleecker, Brogan McAllister and Brook Luly. McDermott placed second with a personal record of 68-07 in the javelin.
Bleecker placed fifth in both the varsity 100 (13.71) and 200 (28.64) while Luly placed fifth in the 800 (2:39.76) and long jump (14-01.5).
The Coyotes will head to Cut Bank for the Pre-Easter Invitational on Thursday before enjoying the weekend off.
