The Shelby boys basketball team won two conference games this weekend defeating Conrad 71-52 and Rocky Boy 67-49.
Shelby opened the Dec. 20 game against the Cowboys jumping to an 18-12 advantage in the first quarter. The Coyotes pushed the lead further in the second outscoring Conrad by 13, leading 41-22 at the half. Conrad outscored Shelby by four in the third period, before Shelby pushed the advantage back to 19 to win the game 71-52.
Tanner Watson led all scorers with 22 for the night, followed by Logan Leck with 15, Taylor Parsons added 11, Rhett Reynolds had 7, Aiden Torgerson had 6, and Tanner Tustian and Trenton Emerson both had 5.
Saturday, Dec. 21, against Rocky Boy, the game was a little tighter in the beginning, Shelby only had a one-point advantage at the end of the first quarter. Shelby’s offense found its stride in the second however, outscoring Rocky Boy by 11. Shelby had a 40-28 lead at the half. The third quarter matched the first in scoring 15-14. The Coyotes ended the game on a 12-7 run to extend the lead to 18 and get the win, 67-49.
Leck led the way with 22 points, Reynolds dropped in 18, Watson contributed 16, Tustian had nine and Torgerson had two.
Shelby will travel to Fairfield on Jan. 3 for a 7:30 p.m. game and host Browning on Jan. 4 for a 5:30 p.m. game.
