The Sunburst Refiners volleyball team’s 2019 season has come to a close. The Refiners lost both matches at last weekend’s district tourney in Augusta.

Coach Kortnee Pace’s team opened the district tournament playing Valier. The Refiners lost in three. “The girls didn’t play to their potential, but they did play better against Power,” said Pace. The team lost in four games to Power, and only lost by two points in the first game.

“It was heartbreaking to lose out so soon in the tournament, however, it was a good experience for everyone. The freshmen got some playing time and got to experience the tournament feel,” said Pace.

“We will lose one senior this year, Jodi Hout, and her presence will be missed, but we will be keeping five starters so all we need to do now is to build on what we have accomplished this year and push forward into the season,” concluded Pace.
