Senior Cody Smith turned in a season’s best time of 2:19.03 in the 800 meter run Friday at the 10-C Preview meet in Great Falls.

The Sunburst Refiners competed at the 10-C Preview Meet in Great Falls and the Havre Invite last week and both the boys and girls squads finished tenth in Great Falls in the team standings. The team will now head to the 10-C District Meet in Great Falls on Friday. 

Brooke Holland led the girls team at the Preview Meet with a first place finish in the 3200 with a personal record of 13:03.04 and a second place finish in the 100 with a personal best time of 14.12. Jaden Koon placed in three events to lead the boys’ team as the sophomore had personal records in the 800 (2:19.01) to finish third and the discus where his toss of 111-08 was good for sixth place. Koon also finished fifth in the 3200 with a time of 12:09.19. Cody Smith finished with a season’s best time of 2:19.03 in the 800 to finish fourth and the senior also finished fourth in the 3200 with a time of 11:48.84. 

Saturday in Havre, Holland finished second in the 1600 with a personal record of 6:07.59 and also finished third in the 100 with a time of 14.94. Ayelleah Brown finished fifth in the 1600 with a time of 7:34.26 and just missed on placing in the 100 hurdles with a personal record of 24.09. 

Non-placing marks for the Refiners on the weekend were: Tobias Alvarez 100-15.29, 200-31.2, shot put-27-01, discus-62-11; Dylan Postma shot put-28-10.5, discus-83-0; Morgan Manthey shot put-28-02, discus 75-09, 100-15.47, javelin-75-03; Brad Sydor javelin-91-01; McKayla Jean-Baptiste 100-15.78, 200-31.71, Makenzie Wilson discus-57-01, long jump-11-11; Holland discus-54-07.
