Shelby’s Kendall Anderson chops her way out of a hazard during the Shelby Invitational Friday at Marias Valley.

The Shelby Coyote golfers had a busy week on the links with three meets last week beginning in Fort Benton before hosting a triangular and an invitational on their home course. 

Last Monday in Fort Benton Skyler Martin topped the field with a 90 to finish two strokes ahead of second place finisher Katie Bieler of Choteau. Maddison Underdal also finished in the top ten, placing eighth with a 117. 

Sean Rogers was the top boys finisher as he fired an 84 to place fourth while Wyatt Brusven tied for sixth with an 88. Also competing for the boys were Cameron Brusven with a 101, Kyler Cassel with a 104 and Teagan Tustian with a 110. 

The boys placed second as a team with a 377, trailing Conrad’s 334. 

The Coyotes hosted a triangular on Tuesday with Conrad and Cut Bank serving as competition. The Shelby girls took team honors with a 209, defeating Conrad’s 220 while Cut Bank didn’t earn a team score. 

Underdal was the top Coyote golfer, placing second with a 50 on the nine-hole meet. Reese Whitted placed third with a 52 while Kendall Anderson and Bailey Johnson followed with a 53 and 54, respectively. Raven Olsen shot a 59, Kelsyn Lohr shot a 61, Avery Hoover fired a 63 and Alexis McCracken rounded out the Coyote scores with a 69. 

Conrad earned the top five scores in the meet while Cassel placed sixth with a 48. Cameron Brusven followed with a 50, followed by Lucas Fretheim with a 51 and Tustian with a 58. Shelby placed second as a team with a 208, trailing Conrad’s 169 but ahead of Cut Bank’s 222. 

Friday the Coyotes hosted an Invitational and the girls took top honors with a 373, easily ahead of second place Choteau’s 424. 

Martin paced the squad with a 79 to earn first place while Anderson was fourth with a 90. Whitted followed with a 92, Johnson and Underdal each shot a 112 to round out the varsity scores. Lohr earned the top JV score with a 105 followed by Hoover with a 110, Olsen with a 113 and McCracken rounded out the scores with a 143. 

Wyatt Brusven placed fourth to lead the boys, who finished third overall as a team. Rogers followed with a 92 while Cameron Brusven shot a 93. Cassel fired a 95 on the day while Tustian rounded out the Varsity scores with a 101. 

Fretheim placed second in the JV division with a 91. 

Shelby was in Missoula on Monday and Tuesday this week and will compete in Cut Bank this weekend with a JV meet on Friday and varsity meet on Saturday.
