The Shelby High School Cross Country team finished their season at the MHSA 56th State Cross Country Championships Meet. The meet was held in Great Falls at the Eagle Falls Golf Course. The weather was on the cool side and there was snow on the course.
In the Class B Boys Race there were a total of 195 runners. Teagan Tustian led the Coyotes to the finish line, placing 92nd, with a time of 20:35. Kolten Henke covered the 3.1 miles in 24:42, placing 181st. Michael Sanchez crossed the finish in line in 188th place with a time of 25:55. Brenden Hagood finished the race with a time of 29:46, placing 195th. Luke Fretheim did not run. The Coyotes did not have enough runners for a team score.
In the Class B Girls Race there were a total of 173 runners. Allyson Bleecker led the Coyotes to the finish line, placing 135th with a time of 26:58. Covering the 3.1 miles in 31:40 and placing 164th was Jahna Welker. The Coyotes did not have enough runners for a team score.
Kudos to Michael, Brenden, Allyson and Jahna for running a personal best for the season.
The team would like to thank Mr. Gruber and the Pep Band for the send-off, the Booster Club for the goodie basket, and to everybody who came down to the meet to cheer them on. We say good-bye to our seniors, Allyson, Luke and Michael, and wish them luck in their next adventure.
