Sunburst’s Ayelleah Brown flies over a hurdle on her way to a personal record in the 100 hurdles Saturday at the Fairfield/Belt Invitational in Great Falls.

The Sunburst Refiners track and field team were in Great Falls last weekend for the Fairfield/Belt Invitational and competed among 30 other teams from classes A, B and C. While the Refiners failed to score a team point, several athletes set personal or season records at the meet. 

Renny Turner set a pair of  personal records with a toss of 36-05 in the shot put and a distance of 100-06 in the discus. Zak Jarvis set a personal record in the triple jump with a distance of 34-05 while also recording a distance of 56-08 in the discus. Morgan Manthey also set a personal best of 28-04 in the shot put. Jaden Koon set a personal record in the 3200 with a time of 11:35.48

Cody Smith set a season’s best mark of 11:32.22 in the 3200 while also finishing the 1600 in 5:18.13. Cole Johnson earned a season record of 76-03 in the javelin and also recorded a distance of 33-10 in the shot put. 

Ayelleah Brown set personal records in three events, the 800 (3:36.04), 1600 (7:25.68) and the 100 hurdles (24.25). Maria Becker set season records in both the javelin with a distance of 74-06 and the triple jump with a leap of 23-02. 

Also competing in Great Falls last weekend were Dylan Postma in the shot put with a distance of 28-10, Brad Sydor in the javelin (84-11) and long jump (14-04.5) and Makenzie Wilson in the discus with a toss of 60-03.
