The Sunburst girls basketball team defeated Valier 65-35, but lost to Heart Butte 44-32, and to Augusta 59-17 last week.

The Refiners hosted Valier on Tuesday and took a lead from the beginning, storming out to a 20-8 first quarter lead. Sunburst kept the pressure on extending the lead in the second quarter to 39-16.

Sunburst opened the second half with great defense, allowing only three points to the Panthers. Sunburst cruised to the 63-35 victory.

Claire Bucklin poured in 30 points for the Refiners, Tara Robbins added nine, Nikki Nau had eight, Katie Hout and Ella Samsal each had seven, and Alie Nau had two.

Last Friday the Refiners were in Heart Butte, and had a tough battle, they led 13-11 after the first quarter, but trailed 23-20 at the half. The Refiners took the third quarter and had a 30-29 lead heading into the fourth where the Warriors took control and won 44-32.

Bucklin had 11 for the Refiners, Robins scored eight, Nikki Nau had seven, Samsal had three, Ali Nau had two, and Victoria Carlisle had one.

On Saturday the Refines played Augusta, and found themselves down 27-10 at the end of the first quarter, and trailed at the half 45-11. The Elks cruised to the victory over the Refiners 59-17.

Scoring for the Refiners were Nikki Nau 10, Samsal four, Hout two, and Ali Nau one.

The Refiners will host Simms Thursday, games starting at 5 p.m.
