Brielle Aklestad is one of six returning seniors for second year head coach Mac McDermott.

The Shelby Lady Coyotes return eight letter winners from last year’s team, including six seniors, one junior and one sophomore. The seniors include second team All-Conference player Bailey Johnson, along with Brielle Aklestad, Brogan McAllister, Kendall Anderson, Brook Luly, and Rachel Hould.

Maddison Underdal is the team’s lone junior and was also a second team All-Conference selection.

Vivi McDermott is a sophomore returning letter winner. Other players hoping to to see action will be junior Devany Lamb, sophomores Blair Luly and Taylor Schilling, and freshmen Jori Clary and Shelbee Correa, both who played last year as eighth graders.

Shelby will have three eighth graders playing again this year. They are Cami Blevins, Delaney Clark, and Michelle Celander.

The Lady Coyotoes are coached by Mac McDermott. He will be assisted by Ryan McDermott, Kari Underdal, and Traci Richman.

Coach Mac McDermott feels the conference should be pretty competitive this year with Fairfield being the early favorite, returning All-State player Kenna Pitcher. The Shelby girls hope to make a run into the post season this year.

The season will kick off with the Coyote Classic this weekend when the Lady Yotes take on Shepherd at 8:45 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 13 and Florence at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14.
