Shelby Safari, located where the Creative Needle used to be on Main Street, has been a hub of activity since it opened in late November with children of all ages enjoying the activities offered at the new facility.

There is one less empty storefront on Main Street since Nov. 22 with the great addition of Shelby Safari opening where the Creative Needle once was. Ingrid Stewart opened the doors to the place every kid now wants to be just before Thanksgiving and so far it has been a great success! What started out as her children’s dream has turned into reality that many children throughout the community are enjoying.

“My kids always wanted something like this, so I thought I could turn it into a business for everyone in the community to enjoy,” said Stewart. “It is fun for kids to have places like this to go and play and make friends.”

Shelby Safari is open to kids of all ages and offers a variety of fun. A soft area is available for children six-months-old up to age five, there are animal rides for three to 10-year-olds and a Lego room offering hours of fun for kids of all ages. There are also a variety of bounce houses for children three-years-old and up.

Not only is there plenty of fun to be had for kids of all ages, but the amazing animal and safari graphics painted throughout the facility by the very talented Olivia Clark cannot be overlooked. Detailed jungle animals, bright colors and fun scenes, the fantastic artwork throughout helps provide the perfect setting for safari fun.

Currently, Shelby Safari hours are Monday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m.; Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 3-6 p.m.; Saturday from 11 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. and every first and third Sunday from 1-3 p.m. The cost for super safari fun is very affordable, $5 per child for an hour, $15 for a day pass per child or, the best deal yet, $40 for a family monthly pass.

“We are open for private parties or any kind of event,” added Stewart. “We just opened our party supplies room and are waiting for our line of food, which will include pretzels, churros, hot dogs, soft drinks and soft ice cream.”

If you’d like to check out all Shelby Safari has to offer before making the trip downtown the facility’s Facebook page, Shelby Safari, offers photos and videos of what is available and also any updates on what is currently taking place.
