The Shelby School Board has three trustee positions coming up for election, Brian Aklestad, Jay Hould and Dan Leck’s terms are all coming to an end. None have filed yet for re-election. Anyone wishing to run needs to pick up their Declaration of Intent from the District Administration Building and have it turned back in no later than Thursday, March 25, by 5 p.m. This year’s election takes place on Tuesday, May 4.

“Anyone wanting to run for Jay Hould or Dan Leck’s position needs to reside within Shelby Public School District 14,” said Business Manager Melit Flynn. “Brian Aklestad is the high school district trustee and to run for that position you need to live outside District 14. If you have a question on which district you live in contact Boyd Jackson at the courthouse.”

The other requirements to run for a trustee position are being over the age of 18, a citizen of the United States, a resident of Toole County for at least 30 days and a registered voter. If getting to the Administrative Building during business hours isn’t feasible you can contact Flynn at (406) 424-8909 and she can email the proper forms to you. She can also answer any questions you may have.

Sunburst Schools Business Manager Peggy Tobin advised the Sunburst School Board has “Call for Election” on its agenda for the Feb. 9 meeting and more information will be forthcoming after that date.
