Brogan McAllister’s, back center, Ready Readers project brought smiles and great books to Mrs. Kim Hayes’ second grade class last Wednesday morning at Shelby Elementary School.

WE DID IT! I would like to start off by thanking everyone for their support in Ready Readers. My original goal was $750 but we ended up exceeding that goal.

This project will provide five new books for every student in kindergarten through second grade! This was a huge success because of all of our wonderful community members and alumni who contributed.

The first installment of books have been ordered and I began delivering on Halloween. The rest of the books will be handed out periodically until I Love To Read Month in February, when they will receive their final book.

Thanks again to all who helped make this possible. The kids were really happy with their first books!
