Repainted, revamped and ready to go, the Shelby Swimming Pool opened its doors to the public on Monday, June 8, and is available for water aerobics, lap swim and open swimming throughout the summer months.

As of Monday, June 8, the Shelby Swimming Pool is open! The pool has undergone a lot of work over the winter, with a new gutter system and other updates taking place. Itis now up and running even better than before.

The Splash Park has been open for a couple of weeks. Admission is free. Splash Park hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week. The City of Shelby asks that families and other users please use the garbage containers provided and to remember that no dogs are allowed in the park.

Water aerobics and lap swim are underway again evenings from 5-6 p.m. The aerobics class actually starts at 5:15 p.m., to allow people time to get there after work. Monthly passes can be purchased at the pool for aerobics and lap swimming for $20 a month.

Swimming lessons will start on Tuesday, June 16. If you would like a spot please contact the pool at 434-5311 to reserve your spot. Lessons will take place Tuesday through Thursday mornings and cost $25 per child.

Open swim takes place from 1-5 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m. Monday through Friday and from noon until 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
