The Ladies of the Shifting Sands, Kayla Schabach, JoEve Aikins, Linnett Doane, Sue Smith and Adrienne Cotterell, are partnering with the Elks Lodge to host the fifth annual Rak and Shimmy Belly Dance Festival May 17-19 at the Coyote Club and Events Center. 

The ladies of the Shifting Sands are hosting Rak and Shimmy Belly Dance Festival May 17-19. It is our fifth year for this belly dance weekend! We invite belly dance instructors from Montana and the west to bring their varied expertise together for this weekend, giving you the opportunity to study with a variety of talent in one location!

This year the Coyote Club and Elks Lodge are hosting our festival! Thank you Elks!

Classes will start Friday evening, followed with more classes all day Saturday and A few classes Sunday morning to round out the weekend, because you can never have too much dancing! There are classes in movement/dance, mommy and me dance, music/drumming, performance, costume, makeup, yoga classes and shopping!

May 18 is the Saturday night showcase, the highlight of the weekend! Featuring the professional dance instructors and workshop participants. The show is upstairs at the Elks Lodge/Coyote Club seating opens at 7 p.m. This is an all ages’ show, open to the public. Bring the family!

Several of our past instructors have agreed to join us again this year. We are welcoming pack Cathy Veater (Salt Lake City, Utah), September Shahravar (Salt Lake City), Jennifer Reis (Billings), Adrienne Cotterell (Shelby), Jennifer Lee (Rapid City, S.D.), Adria Brandvold (Bozeman), Terrell Cotterell (Shelby).

We are welcoming for new instructors this year, Dana Johnson (Boise, Idaho), as well as adding two yoga classes with local yoga instructors Nikki Stapel (Choteau) and Michelle Beebe (Cut Bank)! 

So join us for some yoga, or try on something new with a belly dance class, or get in touch with your inner musician! See you at the Coyote Club!
