There it goes! Trying to time when to run under the spilling buckets of the Splash Park is a pastime keeping many kids busy so far this summer. The Splash Park is free to all and open seven days a week from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.

Summer has arrived and whether you’re looking for a different form of exercise or just a fun place to cool off the Shelby Swimming Pool and Splash Park have you covered! Open seven days a week, the pool and the Splash Park offer an escape from the heat at an affordable price.

The Splash Park is free to all, but make note that there is not a lifeguard on duty in that area. Swimming at the pool will cost you $4 a session, but monthly passes are available and can be purchased at City Hall, the Civic Center or at the pool itself. Pool pass scholarships for families with children are also available, stop by City Hall for more information. If you are only interested in the morning water aerobics and lap swim options you can’t beat the low pass price of $60, for the entire summer!

Lap swim and water aerobics take place Tuesday through Friday, from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. Participants are welcome to join in both, only one, or alternate between the two. With a lap swim/aerobic pass costing only $60 for the entire summer it’s a great way to start your day off right and tone up your summer body at an affordable price.

If learning to swim is on the to-do list this summer there are swimming lessons available. Swim lessons take place Tuesday through Friday, from 10:30 a.m. until noon. For $25 children will learn how to swim, pool safety and have a great time learning a valuable, life-long skill.

One of the most popular activities, open swim, is available seven days a week. Swimmers can enjoy the pool with friends, climb the rock wall and burn off some energy while keeping cool Monday through Friday from 1-5 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m. Open swim is also available on the weekends from noon until 5 p.m.

Parents, please take note, while there is a terrific staff of lifeguards on duty, children under the age of seven-years-old cannot attend open swim unsupervised. An adult over 18 is not required, but an older sibling, babysitter, etc., is. This season’s lifeguards include Devany Lamb, Mackenzie Wilson, Maddison Underdal, Cheyenne Correa, Josh Buck, Cole Johnson, Makenzie Faunce and Taylor Schilling. The pool manager is Randi Lamb.

For those who want to beat the heat, but still enjoy the sun, the Splash Park offers the perfect opportunity, seven days a week, from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. A variety of fun water toys and a wide open play area, the Splash Park is the perfect place to go to meet friends and cool off.

For more information, any questions, or to arrange for swimming lessons, contact the pool at 434-5311.
