Josh House

Many are aware of the horrific motorcycle accident that happened in Shelby on Saturday, Aug. 3, nearly taking the life of Josh House. The injuries sustained by House are many: broken ribs, a compression fracture in his T3, a broken upper and lower jaw, broken clavicle and the most critical, traumatic brain injury.

He is currently in ICU at Benefis, where he has undergone a couple of surgeries but his prognosis is still unknown. An MRI done Aug. 8 came back as inconclusive, but currently Josh is holding his own and recently had a tracheotomy and surgery to repair his jaw.

“Josh is stable and his numbers are looking better,” said his mom, Dina House. “He is still in a coma and measures are being taken to make sure he has the best chance for healing. Although there have been no major setbacks, there have been no big steps forward either, so his future recovery is still unknown.”

Josh grew up in Shelby, attended Shelby schools and is known by many throughout the community as a good guy with a big heart. Although what the future holds is unknown right now, one thing is certain, Josh and his family need their community’s help. And many are stepping up to offer just that.

Big Sky Creative Works has #JoshsFight decals for sale for $5 apiece, with all proceeds going to the House family. Anyone wishing to purchase one can find them at the Montana Club, the Coyote Club and Events Center, the Glocca Morra in Sweetgrass or through Jayleen Nelson or Barbie Alvestad. If you aren’t in the area but would like to purchase one Big Sky Creative Works will gladly mail one to you for $1. Simply message Big Sky Creative Works on Facebook to order.

Dave and Linda Midland have generously donated not one, not two, but THREE Fender guitars to be raffled off, two Stratocasters and one Squire Strat. You can check out these beautiful guitars and purchase raffle tickets at the Montana Club, the Glocca Morra and the Coyote Club. Raffle tickets are a buck apiece, or $5 for six. The drawing will take place on Saturday, Aug. 31. You do not need to be present to win, so make sure and buy some raffle tickets!

Kindred Spirits is hosting the Joshua House Poker Run on Saturday, Sept. 7, with registration taking place at 9 a.m. According to the Kindred Spirits Facebook page: “We are wanting to put on a poker run to help with some of the upcoming medical costs to which he will be incurring over the next few months. He will have a long road of recovery ahead of him. We just want to ease some of the burden that medical bills cost. Once we figure out the stops and get everything set in stone it will be posted here and we will be getting posters done.” Anyone with questions or wishing to donate to the Poker Run is encouraged to contact the group through the Joshua House Poker Run page on Facebook.

A GoFundMe account has also been set up for House at gofundme.com, Josh’s Fight.

A public group page, Josh’s Fight, can be found on Facebook with updates on House being provided by his family regularly.

When you come from a small community you shouldn’t have to fight alone and many have already taken the step to help however they can. Whether you purchase a decal, buy some raffle tickets, participate in the poker run or can only offer prayers and positive thoughts, it’s time to come together and help the House family, join Josh’s Fight.
