The Shelby Speech and Drama team, Faith Robinson, back left, Donnie Tronson, Jazzmyn Ewing, Renee Hammond and Sha’nyia Cuthbert, are looking forward to hosting the team’s home meet this upcoming Saturday, Jan. 8, at SHS.

The New Year has arrived and the Shelby Speech and Drama team is excited to get it started by hosting their only home meet of the season on Saturday, Jan. 8, at Shelby High School.

There is still a need for judges for the meet. There are no special requirements to be a judge, just a willingness to donate your time listening to some awesome performances by some great kids. You also do not have to sign up for the entire day, you can judge the morning events or afternoon. Contactcoach, Tanner Dean, at (406) 460-0448, or Jodi Aklestad at (406) 460-1004, by Friday if you are willing to help out and judge.

Shelby’s team boasts six members who have been doing great throughout the season and they are looking forward to performing for you! There is no cost to attend this event and things get underway at 9 a.m. at Shelby High School. This year’s meet is looking to be one of the biggest ones to date, with 18 teams competing!

“This ended up being a bit bigger than what we had originally thought,” said Coach Dean. “Usually we have 14 teams, give or take, but this year we have a few schools from outside our district coming to compete.”

Some great performances are sure to be on tap and the Coyote Speech and Drama members would love to see you there! Come and support your local thespians, whether it be as a judge or a spectator, you won’t be disappointed! Round one gets underway at 9 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 8, at SHS. See you there!
