The City of Shelby General Election is right around the corner, taking place on Nov. 2. This year’s election is a mail ballot election with those ballots being mailed out to all registered voters in Toole County on Oct. 14. All ballots must be returned, either by mail or by bringing them in to the Toole County Clerk and Recorder’s Office by 8 p.m., Nov. 2.

The deadline to register to vote was Oct. 4, if you missed this deadline you may still register by going to the election office or you can request a form for registration by mail. Anyone wishing to register to vote in this election must do so before noon on Monday, Nov. 1.

If you would like to check and see if you are registered you can visit https://app.mt.gov/voterinfo. Ballots will be mailed to active voters only, if you are a registered voter and do not receive a ballot contact the election office, (406) 424-8300, ext. 2, to update your information.

There are three seats on the Shelby City Council up for election this year, Aaron Heaton, Ward 1, Pat Frydenlund, Ward 2, and Joe Flesch, Ward 3. All three have filed for another term. The only contested race is in Ward 3, with Crissy Bauman running against incumbent Flesch.

Mayor Gary McDermott filed for another term as mayor for the City of Shelby and is running uncontested.

The position of mayor and two Council seats are up for election in both Sunburst and Kevin. Bob Fagan has filed for mayor in Kevin and Kari Hinkle has filed for one of the open Council seats in Kevin.
