Kim MacDonald, 66, of Shelby, Mont., passed away Saturday, Nov. 6, 2021, at Benefis in Great Falls, Mont. A celebration of her life was held on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2021.
Kim was born on Aug. 11, 1955, to William (Bill) and Helen Smith. She grew up in Shelby and graduated from Shelby High School. After graduating Kim went on to live and work in many different places, making friends everywhere she went.
In 1978 Kim’s son, Tanner, joined her in her adventures. Kim loved being “mom” and couldn’t have been prouder of the son she raised.
In the late ‘90s Kim returned home to Shelby. She met Rick MacDonald and after a few years the couple wed on Aug. 13, 2001.
Kim and Rick made their home in Shelby where Kim worked at almost every restaurant there was, along with a few other places. She was a great asset in any restaurant kitchen and a customer favorite when waiting tables. With her outgoing personality and wicked sense of humor there was never a dull conversation when she was around.
Kim didn’t just have co-workers, most became friends who remained her friend long after the job came to an end. She was a lot of fun, but also a hard worker and expected as much from those working with her. Many of her younger co-workers came to know her as a second mom.
Family, friends and her kitties meant everything to Kim. She enjoyed spending time with her husband and son and later, her grandchildren. Kim also enjoyed traveling and shopping. She was a pro at the claw machines; those stuffed animals didn’t stand a chance against her skills.
Kim had a kind heart, a great sense of humor and would help anyone she could. She was one of the kindest, most giving people you could ever meet. She will be greatly missed by the many that knew and loved her.
Kim is survived by her husband, Rick; son, Tanner (Paige); stepdaughter, Kelly (Toby); brother, Bill (Kris); grandchildren, Sabrina, Zoey, Annebelle, Harlei and another granddaughter due in March.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
