Walter John Swarkowski of Cut Bank, Mont., died unexpectedly on Nov. 20, 2020 at Benefis Hospital in Great Falls, Mont. A memorial will be held at a later date.
Walter was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., in 1945 to Stella Krzpek and Walter Swarkowski, Sr. He graduated from St. Francis Prep and Fordham University with a Masters in English. He taught in Brooklyn, N.Y., and St. Albans Middle School in Vermont.
He married Deborah Mary Taft on Sept. 21, 1985 in Essex Junction, Vt. Together they retired to Cut Bank in 2002.
Walter was a volunteer fireman in New York and Vermont. He was member of the Cut Bank Moose Lodge. He was known for his cooking skills, model trains, excellent organizational skills, dinner parties and willingness to help others.
Walter is survived by his wife Deborah; his son Eric (Celeste); grandson Cole; step grandsons Matt of Vermont and Austen Pepper (Australia); numerous relatives and friends, including the Taft family, Tony and Dee Bell, his Birch Creek Family, Perci, Meagan and Mike Cavanaugh, Sabrina and Barri Helms, Sally Beebe, Judy Scofield, John Vermulm and many more too numerous to name.
Walter was predeceased by his parents; brother Thomas; and several relatives.
