Donna F. Bedord, 94, departed this earthly life on her terms Sunday, July 21, 2019 in Yakima, Wash. She retained her independence until the very end.
A Memorial Service is planned for 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 17, at Brookside Funeral Home (500 Prospect, Moxee, WA 98936). A light lunch will be served.
She was a gifted quilter, cake decorator and baker throughout her life with never ending family requests for her cinnamon rolls. She loved plants, flowers and all things green. She lived many years in Cut Bank, as well as Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho before moving to Yakima.
She met Oscar Heglar late in life and they had many special years together before his passing in 2017. As fate would have it, she passed away at Cottage in the Meadow in the same room as Oscar did. When she entered that room, it was as though she relaxed into his embrace, joining him in the afterlife.
She leaves behind four children, Randall Ward (Jan), Taylor Ward, Marcia Janke (Doug) and Mary Bird. There are eight grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Her final act in life was the gift of her body to Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences to aid in training tomorrow’s physicians in treating human health care challenges in the future.
Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers may be made to Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences, Attn: Michele Erickson, CDO 111 University Parkway suite 202, Yakima, WA 98901 or online at www.pnwu.edu/ give.
