John C. Stevenson Jr.

John Stevenson was born in Minot, ND, to John (Jack) and Norma Stevenson. He later moved to Cut Bank, Mont., when he was three-years-old.  John started his working career while attending Cut Bank High School, working for Kenny Fetters at the local gas station. He spent many years working with Kenny. After moving to his next chapter in life, he enjoyed stopping in to visit about his love of cars and catching up on all the local gossip.

John then moved onto working at Union Oil at the age of 26 and retired from here at the age of 53. He was extremely proud of the work he did, becoming Field Mechanic First Class. This career served him well with all his life endeavors, as most know he was a master at maneuvering and creating a fix for everything that came along.

On Feb. 20, 1971, he married the love of his life, Sherry Deene Tyra, and they enjoyed raising their family amongst family and friends.

After his retirement they moved to Roundup, Mont., with his daughter, D’Ann, and son-in-law, John, working for Cenex Refinery in Billings Mont., for four years. He “retired” and decided he needed something to do, so he went to work for the Branding Iron Saloon for two years. This allowed him to keep up with the local goings-on, as he very much loved being in the know.

In 2008 John and Sherry decided to give southern living a try and moved down to Turon, Kan., with their daughter, Debbie. A few years later, they decided to move to Clarkston, Wash., in order to help care for Sherry’s mother, Pat Kuenzel, in her elder years. This is where they have resided since.

John was a loving husband, father, uncle, brother, friend and role model for many. His loving heart touched many. He was extremely proud of his family.

He is survived by his wife, Sherry Stevenson, of Clarkston, Wash.; daughters, D’Ann York and son-in-law, John, of Moscow, Idaho, granddaughter, Justis York, of Tucson, Ariz., grandson, Harlen York, of Moscow Idaho; Debbie Montford, of Kansas City, Mo., grandson, Alex Stevenson, of Smithville, Mo., grandson, Damon Montford, of Kansas City Mo., granddaughter, Renae Waters, grandson-in-law, Ryan, of Lawrence Kan.; son, David Stevenson, daughter-in-law, Tina, granddaughters, Alicia and Addison, grandsons, Damien and Joseph, of Shelby Mont., granddaughter, Julie Olson, grandson-in-law, Tim, and great-grandchildren, Joshua and Jayden, of Kingsland, Ga., grandson, Ryan Stevenson, granddaughter-in-law Kaitlyn, great-grandchild, Korraline, of Wasilla, Alaska, granddaughter, Christina Visina, of Chicago Ill.
