Berna Lynne Herschman

Berna Lynne Herschman, 82, of Cut Bank, Mont., passed away Oct. 14, 2021, at the hospice house in Great Falls, Mont., after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, Oct. 21, at 10 a.m. at St. Margaret Catholic Church in Cut Bank, Mont.

Lynne was born May 26, 1939, to Roger and Marge Davis in Polson, Mont. She was raised in Polson and graduated from high school there.

On July 9, she married the love of her life, Richard Herschman. Together they had four children, Chris, Cheri, Ann Marie,  and Michael. They were happily married for over 61 years.

Soon after marriage, they moved to El Paso Tex., where Dick was stationed in the Army. They also lived in Stockton Calif., before moving back to the Mission Valley in Montana. They took over Dick’s parent’s farm where they raised sheep. Lynne always had a soft spot for the bum lambs and would bring them in the house to care for them. They then moved to Polson, where she worked at the hospital as a receptionist.

In 1974 the family moved to Cut Bank. Lynne worked for many years at Memorial Hospital, for Dr. Jones, and as a substitute teacher.

An avid card player, she was in a pinochle group for over 30 years with lifelong friends.

Lynne is proceeded in death by her parents, her daughter Cheri, and son Michael.

Survivors include, her husband of 61 years, Richard; son Chris (Sabine) of Germany; and daughter Ann Marie (Glen) of Cut Bank; grandkids, Steven (Manuela), Daniel, and Jennifer (Markus) all of Germany; Tim (Tia) of Lewiston; Jordon of Cut Bank; and Joshua and Seth of Albuquerque, N.M.; great grandkids, Leni, Nick, Noah, and Dottie, all of Germany; and her brother, Marc Davis (Jo Ann) of Virginia.
