Former Cut Bank resident, Jimm Gordon, passed away at Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, on Monday, July 15, 2019, from medical complications.
Memorial services were held July 19 at Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d’Alene Chapel in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
Jimm was born to William Paul Gordon and Sharon Wilkins Gordon May 2, 1959. He was raised on a ranch in Cascade and spent his early years as a cowboy. He graduated from Cascade High School in 1977.
Jimm married his sunshine, Judy Paulson, in June of 1979. Jimm and Judy started their family while operating the family ranch on the banks of the Marias River outside of Cut Bank. In the late 1980s, the family moved to Oregon for Jimm to pursue higher education and become a Radiologic Technologist. He excelled at his courses and was valedictorian of his class. Jim then brought his family to St. Maries, Idaho and began his career in the X-ray department of Benewah Community Hospital. He spent the next 16 years caring for community members.
After retiring from the hospital in 2008, he was a full-time doting grandfather to his four “Ricelings” – Layla, Luie, Lilyanna and Loki. He spent many hours dreaming of activities and shenanigans to get into with the kids. Jimm and Judy moved to Coeur d’Alene in 2014 and that is where he lived until his death.
Jimm could make friends easily with his charm, wit and wry sense of humor. He is well known as a prankster among his friends and acquaintances. He was a writer, having an outdoors column in the newspaper while he went to college and short stories and poems published in magazines. Jimm loved music and could often be found with a jaw-harp or nose-flute in his pocket that he would whip out on a moment’s notice to play a song.
Jimm is survived by his wife, Judy Gordon of Coeur d’Alene; son, Alexander (Adam) Gordon of Bellingham, Wash.; daughter, Diana (Wesley) Rice of St. Maries; mother, Sharon Wilkins Britton of Cascade; sister, Genevieve Gordon of Helena; stepmother, Mary Gordon of Lewistown; his four grandchildren; numerous nephews and nieces; and an abundance of friends.
Jimm was preceded in death by his father, William Paul Gordon; grandparents Harold and Lois Nelson and Bess M. Gordon and Edgar Gordon.
