Justin Burd ran the best time for the Browning boys Friday at the Cut Bank Time Trials, covering the three-mile course in 17:09.

“We’re looking really good for this early in the season,” Browning cross country coach Steve LaForge said of his team’s first foray of the season at the Cut Bank Time Trials held Friday, Sept. 6. “We have a bunch of seniors, around 11, and that experience helps so much with the younger kids, the underclassmen. I think we’ll turn a few heads this year.”

With 53 athletes turning out, the Browning cross country team is already sporting some good times at the Cut Bank meet, including Vandree Old Person, Haley Redhorn and Chalissa Kipp on the girls’ side and Justin Burd, Jeremy Bockus and Lane Longtimesleeping for the boys.

This week, the Browning runners compete against Butte-Fairmont on Tuesday, Sept. 10, in Butte where the action starts at 5 p.m. Then on Saturday, Sept. 14, they take part in one of the biggest meets of the season, the Flathead Invitational in Kalispell. “It’s an all-class meet which should where our kids are with respect to team scores,” Coach LaForge said.

Browning results from the Time Trials follow.
