Rocky DuBray is the recipient of 2020 American Indian College Fund Student of the Year Award for Blackfeet Community College.
DuBray has grown academically across a wide range of disciplines appropriate to his educational level during his time at Blackfeet Community College. Although he has subjects in which he excels to a greater degree than others, he has maintained a balance among the various areas of study in his chosen field in Criminal Justice, truly exemplifying the academic goals at this stage of the educational process as you can see from his outstanding GPA. I believe his success has instilled a necessary foundation and ensured his ongoing achievements as his specialized education will gradually replace general education.
DuBray has shown great strength in his adversities to get where he is. He has changed personally over the past year, and represents the college well. He has volunteered in many activities and campus events and performs at an exemplary level when he is called upon. He is involved in the Piikani Club, BFCC Student Senate Vice President, AIBL and Art Club. He has volunteered at church, served food to the students of BFCC, helped in midterm week activities and finals week. He has set up tipis during the summer youth camp and was involved in the BFCC Halloween Carnival for the community. He has been on the BFCC President’s List, Spring 2019 and Fall 2019 for his stellar academics. He is generally recognized to be an active participant, a committed advocate, and an engaging leader in class and out of class. He shows an intense level of wisdom and determination, which is above and beyond his years.
With great admiration, his drive to succeed and his impressive academic achievements, with great pride we have chosen Rocky DuBray as our BFCC 2020 student of the year.
