Browning’s Chucky Brave Rock won the Western A Divisional heavyweight championship last weekend in Ronan. Above, Brave Rock takes care of business at the Cut Bank Booster Invitational in January.

The Browning wrestlers claimed 200.5 cumulative points in the Western A Divisional Wrestling Tournament held last weekend in Ronan. The score put them in second place in team scoring, well ahead of Hamilton/Darby with 171.0.

“We qualified every wrestler to state!” Coach Casey McDonald said. “Chuck Brave Rock was a barn burner in the championship match and won in overtime. Charlie Bullcalf dominated the whole Tourney and is definitely Wrestler of the Week, along with Chucky.”

“We got the Silver team trophy as a team,” the coach continued. “Chucky Brave Rock and Charlie Bullcalf are champions. Quentin Campos took second, along with Jayden Salois in second; Aaron Wells, Jeff Madman, Chance Kittson Jr. and Chris Hall Jr., all in fourth; Ashton Flamand sixth; Brennyn Running Crane fifth; Brendyn Whiteman fourth; and Tommy Campbell eighth! Everyone placed and qualified for state!”

It’s by far the toughest team we have ever had in the nine years I have been coaching. The last time Indian wrestling placed this high was in 1987! Marlin Wippert was part of that team. I am very, very proud of this team, and there’s one more week to show off their heart and skills!”
