Riley Spoonhunter takes it strong to the hoop during a pre-Christmas game against Polson.

The Browning Runnin’ Indians basketball team played just one of two scheduled games last week, overwhelming Cut Bank on Friday, Jan. 10, 90-39, but postponing their hosting Libby on Saturday, Jan. 11, due to transportation concerns by the Loggers.

Browning jumped out to an early lead against Cut Bank in the first quarter, scoring 25 to the Wolves’ seven, and extending that lead throughout the game. Coach Dan Connelly noted that within a three-minute time frame covering the end of the second quarter and the start of the third, Browning scored 21 unanswered points.

Riley Spoonhunter led with 20, followed by Justin Burd with 14, Deion Mad Plume 12 and Jordan Calf Looking and Chris Reevis with 10 apiece.

This week the Runnin’ Indians encounter a pair of top rated teams, beginning on Friday, Jan. 17, when they go to Havre for games that start at 3 p.m. for the C Squad, 4:30 for the JVs and 6 p.m. for the varsity. Then on Saturday, Jan. 18, they host Columbia Falls in home games that start with the C Squad at 2 p.m., the JVs at 3:30 and the varsity at 5 p.m.
