Around 25 athletes turned out for the 2019-20 wrestling season at BHS, an average number according to Coach Casey McDonald. But this year feels different.

“They look super tough this year,” he said. “I predict this will be our best year as a team.”

Coach McDonald says he has all the weight classes covered except 103 pounds, but the weather has made it difficult for some athletes to accumulate the necessary number of practices to compete.

But apart from that, the coach is very upbeat. “I think there’s nine seniors that will be in contention for the state finals,” he said. “This is the most excited I’ve been as a team, and it should be our best year.”

This week, the Browning wrestlers open at the Polson Invitational which runs on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 6-7. Another away tournament is set for the following weekend, Dec. 13-14, in Butte; then hometown fans can watch Browning host Columbia Falls and Whitefish on Thursday, Dec.19.
