Prior to 2009, it had been about 40 years since there was a 4-H Fair in Browning. Many 4-H alumni had shared their memories of baking cookies and bringing them up to the fair to exhibit, or leading their favorite steer in front of the crowd at the local fair in Browning to exhibit their projects.

In 2009 the Blackfeet 4-H Council voted to host a 4-H Fair in Browning. We held our first 4-H fair and had 29 youth participate. Over the past 10 years volunteers have expanded the existing Barn to include swine, steer and lamb barns, animal wash racks, 4-H Project Exhibit Area, kitchen and eating area, showers and camper sites.

Families, friends and community members can easily drive out to the 4-H Barn and see all of the 4-H Project exhibits and animals during the week of fair, July 9-12, 2019.

This year we celebrate our 10th year and have grown to 103 youth enrolled in the Blackfeet 4-H Program. There will be a large variety of 4-H Projects on display in the exhibit building, plus swine, lamb steer showmanship shows and small animal showmanship shows like dog and poultry.

There is also the 4-H Food Booth, it is open to the public where the 4-H youth and parents cook and serve delicious meals that include breakfast, lunch and dinner. All proceeds from the food booth sales will fund 4-H Awards for the youth. The 4-H Food Booth is open from 12-9 p.m. on Tuesday, 7 a.m. – 9 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday and 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday.

On Friday, July 12 at 2 p.m. there will be a 4-H Market Animal Auction, the animal raised by the 4-H member will be auctioned off to the highest bidder and all proceeds go to the 4-H member. Everyone is invited to come out to the 4-H Auction. It is an action packed, loud and fun two hours, and so great to see all of the businesses, local and surrounding towns and individuals have bidding wars on the animals.

The 4-H fair wouldn’t be possible without all of the caring and dedicated volunteers and supporters who help make the fair a success. The fair committees have been planning for this year’s event since February, and would like to extend an invitation to you to join us at the 10th Year Celebration of the Charging Home Stampede 4-H Fair in Browning July 9-12, 2019.
