The Cut Bank Lady Wolves dropped their 2020 opener last weekend as they fell 57-43 to Rocky Boy. The Lady Wolves will return to the floor this weekend as they travel to Browning on Friday for a non-conference tilt before heading to Choteau on Saturday. Cut Bank owns a 2-4 record overall and is 1-2 in conference play.

Against the Morning Stars the Lady Wolves came out flat but rallied late in the first period and trailed 20-14 after the opening stanza. Cut Bank scored just eight points in the second period and trailed 34-20 at the half. Rocky Boy extended their lead in the third quarter as the Lady Wolves’ shooting struggles continued and the local cagers were down 50-31 going into the fourth. The Lady Wolves outscored the Stars 12-7 in the final stanza, but it wasn’t enough as they dropped the game 57-34.

Jada Rides at the Door led all scorers with 22 points and the senior also hauled in 13 rebounds. Aryana Black tallied 12 points and pulled down eight rebounds. Sienna Spotted Bear scored six points, Jackie Waller scored two and Sam Burke rounded out the scoring with a free throw.

“We hurt ourselves all night with lack of communication on the floor and just rushing some things offensively,” said head coach Brandon Kavanagh. “When we made them play defense and worked the ball around we got any shot we wanted, we just didn’t shoot it very well. Defensively we didn’t talk and made things tough on ourselves but not finding shooters. We’ve got to get better at bringing a consistent effort to both ends of the floor for all four quarters.”

The Lady Wolves will take on the Lady Indians of Browning at 6 p.m. on Friday before squaring off with the Choteau Bulldogs on Saturday at 4 p.m.
