The Cut Bank Lady Wolves dropped their lone varsity contest last weekend, a non-conference tilt to Class A Havre, but are locked in as the second seed for next weekend’s Eastern B/C Divisional Tournament in Billings. The Lady Wolves carry a 6-2 conference record into the final regular season games this weekend in Butte and that will remain unchanged as they square off with Glendive, Hamilton, Deer Lodge and Corvallis this weekend.
Camille Bradley hit a solo home run in the first inning of their game with Havre last Saturday and the Lady Wolves trailed 2-1 after the opening inning. Unfortunately, that would be the only run for the Lady Wolves as they couldn’t get their bats going in a 14-1 loss.
Sarah McDonough and Sienna Spotted Bear each hit a single in the loss as the Lady Wolves managed just three hits against a stingy Havre defense.
Sam Burke was in the circle for Cut Bank and gave up 13 hits and eight earned runs in the loss while striking out three Blue Pony batters.
Cut Bank also played a JV contest against Great Falls Central and the Lady Wolves scored nine runs in the first inning to take a 9-4 lead. Cut Bank led 14-8 going into the fourth and final inning before Central rallied. Great Falls cut the Lady Wolves’ lead to 14-13 before Cut Bank got the final out of the game to secure the win.
Bradley pitched all four innings in the win and gave up 10 hits and three earned runs to go along with seven strikeouts. Bradley also smacked a double in the victory.
Brianne Murphy and Spotted Bear led the offense with three hits each and Murphy also recorded five stolen bases. Hannah Fetters, Burke, Tayleigh Running Fisher and Aryana Black each recorded a hit in the win.
The JV squad was in Columbia Falls Monday for a jamboree and the JV and varsity teams will be in Butte Friday and Saturday.
