The Cut Bank Wolves remained winless on the season as they fell to Conrad in their annual Homecoming game 38-14. The Wolves will make the long trek down U.S. Highway 2 for a conference battle with the Wolves from Wolf Point on Friday.
Conrad struck first last Friday as they scored on a 79-yard rush. The two-point conversion gave the Cowboys an 8-0 lead.
Hayden Hedges answered by breaking free on a 39-yard dash to the pay dirt and the PAT by Eddie Dewart pulled the Wolves within 8-7 after the first quarter.
Conrad scored 14 points in the second stanza while the Wolves were unable to find the end zone and Cut Bank trailed 22-7 at the half.
Conrad scored the lone touchdown of the third quarter on a 19-yard rush and the Wolves were down 30-7 going into the fourth.
Conrad scored off of a pick six halfway through the fourth quarter and the Cowboys led 38-7 before Caleb Demanigold found Wyatt Berkram in the end zone from four yards out for the final margin.
The Wolves were outgained by the Cowboys 202-196 in total offense with 133 yards on the ground and 63 yards through the air.
Hedges led the ground game with 132 yards on 23 carries while Demanigold connected on 13 of 23 passes in the loss. Berkram caught six passes for 28 yards followed by Matt Larson with 17 yards on two catches and Brock Barcus with one catch for 13 yards.
Barcus led the defense with six solo tackles, including three for loss. Austin Vanek followed with five tackles and Dayne Barbie, Hedges and Larson each tallied four.
Kickoff in Wolf Point is slated for 6 p.m. on Friday. Wolf Point is coming off of a 48-7 loss to Colstrip last week.
